Hair Spring 08: Short

Cutting Edge
Springs new look. Seen on Anja Rubik. Return of the short boy haircut. Hair is long on top and tapered from the nape to the occipital bone in back. Soft make-up is the key to giving this look an updated appeal. Fine, limp, hair can benefit from the instant hair thickening cut. This is an easy look to maintain, even if you are all thumbs. Shampoo with Judaysia VS Volumizing Shampoo for added thickness and shine. Available at www.judaysia.com

Inverted Bob: Jenny McCarthy

Stacked Up
Stacked in all the right places. What's old is new again. The inverted bob is popping up all over Hollywood. Geometrics are stealing the show. The clean lines and platinum colour make Jenny McCarthy a knockout. This haircut works best with straight hair.
It is cut on an iverted u shape at the nape. Everything else is stacked upon it. Hair is longer at the front. Blow dry with a Denman brush. The Denman smoothes and volumizes the hair with one stroke. It also makes hair shine.

Thin Hair

Kate Moss
Fine, thin hair can be so fashionable.A hairstyle for fine hair or thin hair can actually make your hair thicker. Kate Moss's haircut makes her fine hair look thicker. This is the new bob update with the heavy fringe shown in the Chanel Monte Carlo Collection for Fall 07. I love the heavy fringe because it rests at the top of the cheek bone giving a very youthful look to the face. Long layers give more volume and movement to fine hair. When fine, thin hair is cut too short it just seems to die and stick to your head. It needs length to come alive. Volumtechnics haircutting builds body into fine, thin, and limp hair. It gives hair new life.
Volumtechnics makes the hair thicker by building support and weight where the hair needs it most. Any type of hairstyle can be worn as long as it is not too short. Length is needed to build volume. When you have length you can add on a hairpiece creating diffent looks. You can also wear your hair up, or in a pony. I almost always show fine hair on my posts. I am all about making hair thicker with my Volumtechnics Haircutting Technology and my Judaysia Haircare Thickening System. Today's top models and movie stars have fine hair. It is really the most versatile of all the hair types. I love it, and I love cutting, colouring and styling fine and thin hair.

The Kitten

Meow!
With its ultra wearable , sexily disheveled layers, the kitten is reminiscent of Bardot at her peak. Not only is it easy to backcomb for added volume, its inherent Sixties feel taps into the Beatnik trend that's a key inspiration on the catwalk right now.
How to Get The Look:
Volumtechnics haircutting technology was used to cut volume into the models fine hair. After shampooing with Judaysia VS Volumizing Shampoo hair was styled using Judaysia Mousse at the roots. Judaysia Thic was sprayed on and then the volumizing products were combed through to the ends, giving hair all day hold. Hair was blown dry with a large natural boar rounder brush.Large velcro rollers were set in a downward pattern. Judaysia VS Volumizing Shaper Spray was sprayed all over and set with heat from the blow dryer. Rollers were removed. Our models hair was backcombed at the crown and smoothed using a Comare Mark V comb. Hair was styled into place and finished with Judaysia VS Platinum Hair Spray.

Buying A Skinny Flat Iron

Which One Is Best
I have received a few e-mails about buying a skinny flat iron.
A skinny flat iron should have a slim base so it will easily fit in your hand. When you are using the flat iron to wave your hair you want it to go as smooth as possible. I would not buy the most expensive iron. The inexpense irons work just as well. Remember this is a trend. Try different irons and see which one works best for you.

Fall Hair Trend: Making Waves

Wearing Waves
Waves are everywhere this fall. Long and short hair can all have the forties feel. The modern update is shown at left. Waves are easy to do.Todays look is done with a slim flat iron. Any type of hair can be waved. If your hair is fine and hard to hold you can use a mousse to give it staying power. If your hair is thin and limp you can make your hair thicker by using a hair thickner along with the mousse. Waves will make your hair thicker.
How-To: You will need a slim (about an inch or so) flat iron. Wash your hair with Judaysia VS Volumizing shampoo. This will give your hair shine. Towel dry. Apply Judaysia Thic or Mousse. Comb through.Blow dry. Use your slim flat iron. Take small sections. Run iron down the shaft, when you get to the ends make sure the whole end is tucked in. Roll up the hair in the iron working toward the roots. When you get to the top hold it a second and remove the iron. Tucking in the ends prevents fish hooks. Running the iron down the shaft heats up the hair helping it to set. When cool run your fingers thtough it. Spray with Judaysia VS Shaper spray. If you are going to be in humidity or live in one of the humid states try Judaysia VS Platinum Hair Spray. It is a humidity holding spray. Protects the curls so the humidity cannot get in and make them go limp, without being stiff. If you need more help or have a question about your hair leave a comment.

Salon Etiquette: Appointments

Can I Help You?
Most salons book on an appointment basis, although some are walk-in salons. When you call to book an appointment know what time you would like to come in.This will save time for the busy receptionist. Write down your appointment time. Show up on time. If you cannot keep your appointment call the day before and let your hairdresser know. This will give your stylist time to fill the spot. It is rude to call an hour before and say "Do you have anything later?" Or to simply not show up. Your hairdresser's time is just as valuable as yours. What are they suppose to do with the time you booked and did not show up? Some salons charge for the missed appointment. Do not show up an hour late with an attitude. Have some class and pay your stylist for the missed appointment. And while we are on the subject of ettiquette, pay with cash. Most hairdressers do not have the resources to back up your check at the bank. A check is no more than an IOU. Your hairdresser did not make you run to the bank to get your hair cut and then wait a few days for it to clear before they cut your hair.Be sure to show up with cash to pay. Don't say " I don't have any money, I will get it to you." In the event you have to use your charge card leave extra to cover the fee. Finally, always leave a tip.

Styling Bob Haircuts

Fall 07 Wearing The Bob
If you have fine, limp hair, consider a bob.Your hair will have shape. There are so many variations on the bob, you can easily find one for you. Classic, easy to maintain, the bob looks great with accessories. Shown here with a headband at right. The look is so today. It can be worn with a sweater and some jeans. This is a choppy bob.Styling this look can be fun. You could wear this without a bang as well. The cut could all be the same lenght. For a smooth finish you could set this with jumbo velcro rollers. The crown could be backcombed.
The bob at left is The American Look that is so now. This version has some graduation at the back. It's a knockout with the sunglasses. It too can be worn with or without a fringe. The front could be a little longer than the back giving it a more geometric feel. This looks best with a hair colour that has some punch.

Haircolour Breakage

Ask Judaysia
Dear Judaysia; I have long, fine, thin, blonde hair. I have a lot of grey on top now. I had my hair hilighted and it broke off. I cannot seem to find a hairdresser or good advice about coloring my hair that will not damage it. I need advice and something to repair the damage. I want to keep my hair long.
Thank you, Kerrie
Dear Kerrie, If you are in the Los Angeles area you could come to my salon. I would recommend an all over colour for you, A single process. With the grey it will look hilighted. Please do not let your hairdresser put you under the hair dryer with any type of colour. This will almost always damage your hair.Your hair can look very sexy like the picture at the right. To repair the damage I always use Voltech Hair Salad. It is undoubtedly The Holy Grail of hair repair. Also a good cut to give it volume. I would also look for a top hairdresser in the biggest city near you. You will pay more but it will be worth every penny.I hope this helps.
