A lot of today’s hairdressers are slithering the hair. Some hairstyles require the technique to remove bulk and add texture to the hair. When done properly by a qualified technician the results can be very dramatic.
I have seen quite a few new clients lately whose hair has been torn to shreds from slithering. Slithering slices open the hair shaft and it can leave the hair broken, dry and very damaged. Baby fine hair or coarse wiry hair should never be slithered. Slithering does not produce volume. It takes away bulk.
