Highlighting Fine Limp Hair

Ask Judaysia
Dear Judaysia,
My hair is so fine and limp I could just cry. It will not hold a shape of any kind. I have to wash it everyday because it is so oily. My last hairdresser cut my hair short, he said it was so fine, short was the only way to wear it. Needless to say I looked terrible and it just stuck to my head. I have grown my hair out and found a new hairdresser. She has cut it one length between my jaw and shoulder. She said my hair would have more body with some highlights. It is a dishwater mousy color. She suggested some lighter shades. I am afraid because of so many past disasters. I have been reading the articles on your site for the past year and I love what you do with fine hair. I live in New York and cannot come to L.A. Please give me your advice. Thank you, Carolynn.
Dear Carolynn,
Your new hairdresser seems to know what she is talking about. Yes, highlights would give you more body and help with your oily hair. Don't be afraid of hair color. It can be corrected if you don't like it. I would suggest trying just a partial highlight because you are color shy. Have her shade your hair with three shades of blonde. This will give it depth and warmth which will result in natural looking color. Stay away from ash tones. Your hair is already ashy. Also take small weaves. You will love your hair with some color. Be sure to condition your hair even though it is fine. I suggest you try Judaysia Holy Water. It will not weigh your hair down. It is a leave in conditioner that leaves your hair shiny and frizz free. Judaysia Holy Water is formulated with ginseng and natural flowers and herbs. It really does perform miracles. I hope this will help you take the plunge. Remember to change your make-up with your hair color. Try a new shade of lipstick. For more...

Slithering

Texturizing the Hair
A lot of today’s hairdressers are slithering the hair. Some hairstyles require the technique to remove bulk and add texture to the hair. When done properly by a qualified technician the results can be very dramatic.
I have seen quite a few new clients lately whose hair has been torn to shreds from slithering. Slithering slices open the hair shaft and it can leave the hair broken, dry and very damaged. Baby fine hair or coarse wiry hair should never be slithered. Slithering does not produce volume. It takes away bulk. The closer the stylist slithers to the scalp the longer it takes for the hair to grow out.If your hair has been slithered and it is damaged there are a couple of things you can do. More...

Porcelain skin and fair hair beauties are a welcome change.
This holiday season is a good time to try some new styling with your hair. Keep it soft and feminine.

Victoria Beckham, Jean Seberg, Mia Farrow

The Pixie
Victoria Beckham's short cut is all the rage. Women are cropping their hair short. Before you chop off all your locks be sure this cut is right for you.
Consider the severity of short hair. Your face and neck will have total exposure. Add to that your body shape. Your butt should never be bigger than your head. This is a cut for someone very thin.
If you have any age on your face such as deep wrinkles, jowls, crepey neck it will be in full view. If your face is heavy with a double chin or heavy neck it will look bigger. If your body carries extra pounds they will be exposed.
Victoria Beckham's dark hair color combined with extremely short hair is a very hard look.
In contrast Jean Seberg had the same cut in the sixties and she looked soft and feminine.
Mia Farrow looked very sweet with her short hair. She had an innocent quality.
Perhaps it is the softness of Jean's and Mia's facial features and their skin tone that makes them look irresistible.
Just because a haircut looks good on someone else does not mean it will look on you.
If your hair is long go shorter over a couple of hair cuts. Be sure your new look compliments your body shape.
When you change your hair cut or color change your make-up.

Shampoo For Thicker Hair

Shampooing Your Hair.
Massaging your scalp while you shampoo is a great way to add fullness to your hair.
Apply the shampoo to the top of your head and under at the nape of your neck. Shampoo from the front of your head to the middle and from the nape to the middle using tiny rotary movements. Run your fingers down the shaft through to the ends. This massages the scalp and cleans away environmental debris. Oil, excess dirt, product, and sweat, all build up in the hair everyday. I do recommend washing your hair everyday. Nothing feels better than a clean scalp and a thick full head of hair. Your scalp will be clean and free of build-up. Oxygen will nourish the blood and stimulate the follicle so your hair can grow thicker and longer.
Choosing a shampoo with natural herbs, plants and vitamins gently lift and clear away any residue on the hair and scalp. There is a new generation of hairdressers who are custom blending their own formulas. In Malibu, Ca. Judaysia has bottled her ginseng based line she created for rock stars. She blends her formulas like a vintner does his grapes. Judaysia chooses the best herbs and flowers with the freshest plants and vitamins. Herbs blended with the right vitamins can thicken the hair. With the addition of plants and flowers hair can be nourished resulting in shiny, clean hair that swings and moves.
Research has shown women who shampoo daily shed less hair. There hair is in optimum health

Beauty Tip: Lips

Hotter Lips
Layering pressed powder in between lipstick coats intensifies the color in seconds. The powder pulls out the oil from the lipstick, so you are left with a deep matte stain, which is exactly the kind of effect you want right now.

Textured Bobs

Liv Tyler
Celebs are getting bobs cut longer these days so their hair grazes the nape of their neck or shoulders. This is a good look for women of all ages. The cut is easy and unstructured. Long layers release the weight of the bob giving it freedom and movement. The length softens the jaw line and neck. It also gives you a lot of styling options. Your hair can be worn up or down. It is suitable for a French twist or braids. Hairpieces can be added for more length. Styling is fast with texture taking center stage. More...

Sexy Bangs

Carrie Underwood
Whether they are side-swept and eyelash grazing or blunt cut styling your bangs is the easiest way to change your look.Skip heavy styling products which can weigh bangs down making them hard to manage. Rely on a light shaper spray for control. Use a round brush and dry them to the side. If you have blunt bangs, finger pinch the ends for a piecy effect. Wearing bangs a bit over your eyes lends a sexy appeal.

Katherine Heigl's Bob

Plaits: How To

Fishtail Plaits
Ideal for layered hair, but can be done on any length. If you plait your hair damp when it is dry you will have waves.
To Get The Look...
1-Divide a section of hair into two.
2-Take a strand from underneath each half, looping it outwards and over the top to the center between the two halves.
3-Allow the piece of hair that you are adding from to hang free as you work down, wrapping it with the finer strands.
Flyaway pieces loosen the look. You can loosely plait your hair for an unfinished look. It does not have to be perfect. You can wear your plait down the middle of your head or to the side. Silky or fine hair will slip out so use Judaysia Thic or Judaysia VS Shaper Hair Spray to give it guts. Available at http://judaysia.com/products.html There is free designer bag with purchase.
